Awareness Campaign on ‘Balanced Use of Fertilizers’ organised virtually by ICAR-DOGR

 

 

A awareness campaign on ‘Balanced Use of Fertilizers’ was organised for farmers by ICAR-Directorate of Onion and Garlic Research, Pune on 18th June, 2021 through virtual mode. The programme was organised as part of celebration of completion of 75 years of India’s independence ‘Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav’. A total of 63 participants attended the programme. Dr R B Kale, Scientist (Agril. Extension), welcomed participant and briefed about the programme. Dr. Major Singh, Director, ICAR-DOGR, Rajgurunagar, Pune addressed to the participants. Balanced use of fertilizers is foremost important factor for enhancing the yield in onion and garlic crop, therefore, farmers should adopt the recommended doses of fertilizers and improved techniques of integrated nutrient management to improve the soil health, he stated. Dr. V. Mahajan, Principal Scientist, delivered lecture on the ‘improved varieties of Onion and Garlic’. Dr. A. Thangasamy, Scientist, delivered presentation on ‘balanced use of fertilizer for enhancing yield of onion and garlic’. Participants showed their active involvement through interaction and question answer session after the lectures. Farmers who attended the programme at campus also visited the soil science lab to get information about soil testing and collection of soil samples. The programme was ended by vote of thanks expressed by Dr. S. S. Gadge, Senior Scientist (Agril. Extension), ICAR-DOGR, Pune.
