Training programme organized in Mirzapur 

 

A training programme for farmers on “Kharif Onion Production Technology” was organized at Narayanpur, District Mirzapur (Uttar Pradesh) on 2 June, 2018 by ICAR-DOGR in collaboration with GK Research & Development Foundation and Sewa International, Varanasi. A total of 55 farmers from Mirzapur and Gazipur districts of Uttar Pradesh participated in the programme. Mr. Govind N. Singh, District Coordinator, Sewa International welcomed the participants and elaborated organizational activities carried out for the farmers. Dr. S. S. Gadge, Senior Scientist (Agricultural Extension), ICAR-DOGR delivered a lecture on kharif onion production technology. Dr. Gadge provided detailed information about onion cultivation and post-harvest technology from sowing of onion seed to marketing of onion bulbs. Professor Gautam Kalloo, Former DDG (Horticulture), ICAR, New Delhi & Former Vice Chancellor, JNKVV, Jabalpur encouraged the participants for cultivation of kharif onion crop. Mr. Mahendra Singh, Progressive farmer from Mirzapur shared his farming experiences with the participants. The seed of ICAR-DOGR developed kharif onion varieties viz., Bhima Super and Bhima Dark Red was distributed to the farmers on the occasion. Mr. Ram Kumar Rai, Director, Shivansh Krushak Producer Company, Gazipur and Mr. Ashish Kumar Singh, Field Coordinator, Sewa International, Varanasi took efforts for the successful organization of the programme.
