Organized Training Programat ICAR-DOGR for Tribal Farmers 

  

 

Three-days training-cum-awareness program on “Commercial cultivation of onion and garlic” for tribal farmers from Ambegaon and Khed talukas of Pune (Maharashtra)was organized by ICAR-Directorate of Onion and Garlic Research, Rajgurunagar, Pune under the Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP)on 1-3Nov, 2021 at ICAR-DOGR, Rajgurunagar, Pune. A total of 39 selected tribal farmers participated in the program.The training was aimed for creating awareness among the farmers about commercial cultivation of onion and garlicin Ambegaon and Khed talukas of Pune.Dr. Major Singh, Director, ICAR-DOGR and Course Director of this training formally welcomed the participants and elaborated the theme of the training program and briefed about the technologiesdeveloped byICAR-DOGRfor the farmers.Dr. Amar Jeet Gupta, Principal Scientist (Hort.) & Nodal Officer (TSP), Dr. S. S. Gadge, Senior Scientist (Agril. Ext.) and Dr. Rajiv Kale, Scientist (Agril. Ext.) coordinated the program.Dr. Gupta briefed about the importance and scope of TSP on livelihood of tribal farmers.Lectures on different aspects and field demonstrations on cultivation of onion and garlicwere arranged. Farmers including Mr. MarutiBhagujiLohakare, Dattratray Kisan Lohakare and KantaramLumajiLohakareexpressed theirsatisfaction and appreciated ICAR-DOGR for arranging such valuable training for the tribal farmers.
