Interaction meeting and distribution of Agri-inputs to the tribal farmers  

ICAR-Directorate of Onion and Garlic Research, Rajgurunagar, Pune conducted an interaction meeting with the selected tribal farmers and distributed various Agri-inputs to the tribal farmers on 25-26 Aug, 2022 under Tribal Sub Plan (TSP). This programme was coordinated by Dr. Amar Jeet Gupta, Principal Scientist (Hort. Sci.) and Nodal Officer TSP. Prior to the distribution of inputs, Dr. Vijay Mahajan, Director of ICAR-DOGR motivated the farmers and guided them on the efficient use of kharif onion production technology to get maximum yield. Dr. Amar Jeet Gupta, Nodal officer of TSP spoke on the overall role of onion as a cash crop and explained the activities of the TSP Scheme in onion cultivation. He also informed about the Agri-inputs package and its utilization along with quantity and time of application. Dr. Rajiv B. Kale, Senior Scientist (Agri. Extension) and member of TSP briefed the overall program as well as benefits from TSP to the tribal farmers. Mrs. Ashwini Benke, Scientist (Genetics) and member of TSP guided the farmers on forthcoming issues on kharif onion nursery management and transplanting. A total of 52 farmer representatives of 52 groups of tribal farmers including 26 groups from Bursewadi, Taluka Khed and 26 groups from Gohe, Taluka Ambegoan, District Pune were present for the distribution program. A total of 52 tribal farmers attended the program and were given a package which include fertilizers, insecticides, fungicides, weedicides, micronutrients, neemcake, sprayers, tarpaulin etc. under TSP from ICAR-DOGR. Program ended with the vote of thanks presented by Dr. Rajiv B. Kale.
