ICAR-DOGR organizes Training under SMART project

  

  

A training programme on “Residue Free Onion Production Technology” was organized under SMART project by ICAR-Directorate of Onion and Garlic Research for 75 farmers of District Pune. It was sponsored by District Implementation Unit, SMART Project, Pune. Different topics related to residue free onion production were covered in the training programme. Dr. Vijay Mahajan, Director, ICAR-DOGR expressed views on good agricultural practices for residue free onion production. Lectures were delivered by scientists of ICAR-DOGR on disease and pest management, nutrient and water management, quality seed production, socio-economic development of onion producing farmers through Self-Help Groups, etc. topics. The various agro-practices for residue free onion production were demonstrated to farmers at ICAR-DOGR farm. Farmers were exposed to different agro-innovative techniques. The queries of the farmers were answered by the scientists of ICSAR-DOGR in interactive session. The farmers also expressed their views on the occasion. The programme ended with the vote of thanks presented by Dr. S. S. Gadge, Principal Scientist (Agricultural Extension). The training programme was coordinated by Dr. S. S. Gadge, Principal Scientist (Agricultural Extension) and Dr. R. B. Kale, Senior Scientist (Agricultural Extension).
