ICAR-DOGR organizes training programme under SCSP scheme
ICAR-Directorate of Onion and Garlic Research, Rajgurunagar, Pune organized a training programme on “Onion Production Technology” under Scheduled Caste Sub Plan (SCSP) scheme for farmers of Maharashtra. The programme was of 2 days from March 22-23, 2019. It was attended by 25 scheduled caste farmers. Dr. Major Singh, Director, ICAR-DOGR welcomed the participants and briefed about the ongoing activities of Directorate for the farmers. Dr. Singh emphasized on the importance of improved technologies in increasing quality onion production for socio-economic development of scheduled caste farmers. Different topics related to onion cultivation were coveredby ICAR-DOGR scientists in the training programme. The various agro-practices were demonstrated to farmers at ICAR-DOGR farm. Farmers were exposed to different agro-innovative techniques. After training programme, interactive session was conducted in which queries from the farmers were answered by the scientists. The farmers also expressed their views on this occasion. In valedictory function, certificates were distributed to the participants. The farmers were provided seed of ICAR-DOGR varieties, fertilizers, pesticides and technical bulletins at free of cost. The programmewas coordinated by Dr. S. S. Gadge, Senior Scientist (Agricultural Extension). It was ended with vote of thanks expressed by Dr. R. B. Kale, Scientist (Agricultural Extension).
