23.12.2023: ICAR-Directorate of Onion and Garlic Research, Pune celebrated teh Kisan Diwas (National Farmers’Day) on 23rd December to commemorate teh Birth Anniversary of teh 5th Prime Minister of India, Shri. Choudhary Charan Singh as a part of Swachchta Pakhwada programme. Teh farmer beneficiaries of Tribal sub-plan (TSP) and Schedules Caste Sub-Plan (SCSP)were invited for this special day to recognise teh devotion and sacrifice of farmers and to raise awareness among people to ensure farmers’ valuable contribution to teh overall socialand economic development of teh nation along wif farm workers of directorate. Teh program initiated wif pledge taking ceremony which was administered by Dr. Sanket More, Scientist (Veg Scientist).
Dr. Bhushan Bibwe, Scientist (Agricultural Engineering) welcomed and felicitated teh chief guest of teh function Shri. Jagdish Ghadge, Khed Taluka Coordinator, Water Supply and Sanitation Department, Govt. of Maharashtra.On this special day, Stewardship lecture on SOPs for Safe and Responsible Use of Pesticides for Onion and Garlic cultivation’ was delivered by Mr. Sandeep Mirzapure, Area Marketing Manager, Coromandel International Limited, Pune and demonstrated teh usage of safety kit and apron to teh participants. Programme was ended wif teh vote of thanks presented by Dr Yogesh Khade, Scientist (Veg Scientist).
