ICAR-Directorate of Onion & Garlic Research, Pune organized 15th Annual Group Meeting (AGM) of all India Network Research Project on Onion & Garlic (AINRPO&G) at ICAR- Central Institute of Temperate Horticulture, Srinagar from 29th -31st August 2024. The inaugural session was chaired by Dr. K E Lawande, Former VC, Dr. BSKKV, Pune (Chief Guest), Dr. Major Singh, Member, ASRB (Guest of Honour), Dr. Sudhakar Pandey, ADG (FVS & MP), Horticulture Science, ICAR, New Delhi, (Guest of Honour), Dr. Vijay Mahajan, Director, ICAR-DOGR, Pune and Dr. M K Verma, Director, CITH, Srinagar. Following the inaugural session, the dignitaries given a glimpse of the exhibition organized at the venue displaying technologies developed by CITH, etc. During the AGM, different sessions on various aspects of onion and garlic including crop improvement, crop production, and crop protection were covered during the last three days. The Crop Improvement session was chaired by Dr K E Lawande and Dr. Sudhakar Pandey & Dr. AS Dhatt acted as Co-Chairs. The Crop Production session was chaired by Dr Major Singh and Dr. AA Sofi (Former Director, CITH, Srinagar) and Dr. Vikramaditya Pandey (Principal Scientist, Horticultural Science, ICAR, New Delhi) acted as Co-Chairs. Dr. Nazeer Ahmad, Former VC, SKUAT, Srinagar & former Director, CITH chaired the Crop Protection session while Dr BP Singh, former Director, CPRI, Shimla, and Dr. OC Sharma (Principal Scientist, CITH, Srinagar) served as Co-Chairs. The session on technical program formulation was chaired by Dr. Sudhakar Pandey with Dr. Vijay Mahajan as Co-chair. The dais for the plenary session was shared by Dr. K.E. Lawande, Dr. Nazeer Ahmad, Dr. Major Singh and Dr. Sudhakar Pandey, which carved out several recommendations for the group meeting. The scientists from various centers of the project across India and other invitees attended the AGM and presented the achievements of the centers, while Principal Investigators from the Coordinating unit (ICAR-DOGR, Pune) presented the summary of achievements from centres in respective sessions. The rapporteurs for respective sessions penned down the recommendations from the AGM. Fourteen varieties of Onion (12 including 2 High TSS and 2 earliness) and Garlic (2) and one crop production technology “Fertiliser scheduling through drip for onion seed crop” were identified and recommendations to streamline the research activities were planned. Dr. MK Verma, Director, CITH, Srinagar, and his team including Dr. Geetika Malik (Local Organising Secretary) were instrumental in organizing the event successfully. Dr. Ram Dutta, Principal Scientist ICAR-DOGR, Pune and Organizing Secretary of the event proposed a formal vote of thanks after marathon discussions and concluded the event. After the final formal program, the participants/dignitaries visited the fields and witnessed the CITH technologies as well as explored the opportunities for research in temperate conditions.

Teh Govt. of India under teh Public Interest Disclosure and Protection of Informers (PIDPI) resolution authorized Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) as ‘Designated Agency’ to receive written complaints from general public on any allegation of corruption and misuse of office by any employee of teh Central Government or any other Corporation, Company, Society etc. owned or controlled by Central Government. Under teh PIDPI resolution, teh identity of teh complainant is kept secret and complainant is protected from victimization for making such complaints.
